    Deb McEldowney Rose Award 2020-21

    McEldowney receives
    '20-21 ROSE Award

    The Castlewood Education Foundation presented the ROSE Award for the 2020-21 school year to Deb McEldowney. Deb is the school librarian and has a strong passion for reading. She promotes a love of reading to all of her students through various means, including technology, games, activites and crafts.

    New scholarships 
    awarded in 2020

    Four scholarships were newly awarded in May of 2020. 

    A new $1,000 scholarship has been endowed with the Castlewood Education Foundation by Sharon (Miller) Nagelhout, (Class of 1956). She established the scholarship in honor of her husband Maynard Nagelhout (Class of 1956) and their families.

    Bonnie Gerhold funded a $500 scholarship for a 2020 graduating student in memory of her husband Ross Gerhold, Class of 1954 and a former Castlewood High School math and science teacher.

    The $1,000 John and Delice Gleysteen Memorial Scholarship is given by Jane Gleysteen Bobzin (Class of 1962), Arlys Gleysteen Sikorski (Class of 1966) and Ron Gleysteen (Class of 1968) in memory of their parents John and Delice Gleysteen.

    The $500 Edward and Rachel Westgard Memorial Scholarship was established by Krisma Westgard Dewitt (Class of 1974) in honor of her parents, Edward and Rachel Westgard.

    Innovative Education grants awarded for 2020-21

    Innovative Education Grants were awarded to special education teacher Chris Lather for an adaptive playground swing and librarian Deb McEldowney for Keva planks.

    2021 golf tournament in June


    The annual CEF golf tournament was cancelled in 2020 due to coronavirus concerns. Tournament proceeds fund Innovative Education Grants to teachers, classroom field trips, funds for music and the arts, and scholarships to graduating seniors. Mark your calendars for the 13th annual golf tournament scheduled for June 19th!!
